The culture and tourism authorities of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei have carried out a series of management and control measures to boost integrated tourism development.

The three regions will increase joint efforts in supervising tourism operations and share relevant information to boost tourism service quality and upgrade civilized travel, according to a meeting held by the Beijing Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau in late November.

The meeting discussed major problems in coordinated tourism development of the three regions and came up with countermeasures to boost the construction of a credit system and better address tourist complaints.

A joint law enforcement team has been developed to supervise travel agencies, scenic spots and hotels in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, says Li Hua, deputy head of the Beijing bureau's industry management division.

"We will strive to bring our credit system environment to a higher level, better maintain travelers' rights, clean up the tourism market and boost the healthy and prosperous development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei tourism," Li says.

Areas of focus will involve the legitimacy of travel contracts, scenic spot facility operations and safety work, as well as hygiene and service at star-rated restaurants.

The checks will occur on a frequent basis and target major areas, says Zhang Biao, an officer with tourism law enforcement work in Beijing.

Travelers are welcome to report illegal actions, which will be taken care of in a timely manner, Zhang adds.
